On the way to Dovra

Description:

Students of the 6th grade of the 12th Primary School of Veria tell the story of the Monastery of Panagia Dovra, on the slopes of Vermio, near Veria, through verses reminiscent of – Ithaca-, the famous poem by Constantine Cavafy. Through the narration, the traveler will create images of 1822, when the monastery was brutally besieged by Turks in the battle of Dovra, which determined its fate.

The message On the way to Dovra is an alternative way of communicating local history, short and understandable, and emerged in the context of the implementation during this school year of the cultural program entitled -Experiential learning & production of cultural material– The Monastery of Panagia Dovra- in which the role of the responsible teacher, Christina Dimitriadou, PE07 German Philology, was that of the coordinator and animator of the activities.
