Podcast: Irini as a child

This song was written by the members of our school choir lab at the 1st High School in Chania. The melody inspiration, the lyrics and the performance belong to the children. Our students are: Dekanea Sofia, Giaitsi Sofilia, Koutrouli Lia, Kina Athanasia, Sgourou Terpsi, Thanos Ilias, Vervantidis Ioannis. The piano score is being performed by Veneti Natassa.
All children come from the first and the second Grade of High School.

Our song lyrics are:

Give us some peace,
that doesn’ t fit in memory.

Eyes are watching children
in the playground along with pigeons
two feathers I keep in heart
and my arms wide open.

Give us some peace,
that doesn’ t fit in memory.

Laughter in the neighbourhood
voices from the balconies
one heart’ s huggings
balloons flying away.

Give us some peace,
that doesn’ t fit in memory.

All world’ s cloudiness
may the sun hide never again
now I am wishing
not to miss peace ever again.

As a music teacher I worked with my students in order to get them inspired on the project and I wrote the piano score so that it can be easily performed by our 13-year old piano player. The recording took place at school, not in a studio. I am proud of my team and we are all so happy to participate in this contest! The best of luck to everybody and to every school! Thank you so much for this experience European School Radio!
