Elementary school Vojnić is located on the edge of Vojnić settlement itself.
Around 1890, only 20 teachers worked in 17 four-grade schools in the entire Vojnić District. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were two primary schools in the area of today’s Vojnić: one in Krstinja, the other in Vojnić.
The home school in Krstinja had district schools in Miholjsko, Svinjica and Klupica, and the home school in Vojnić had district schools in Kuplenski, Kestenovac, Bukovica, Utinja and Knežević Kosa.
None of those district schools are working today due to the lack of children and they are neglected.
And TODAY….
Today, our school is located on a land that covers about 14,000 square meters of surface. Most of that area is occupied by two playgrounds: one for soccer and handball; second for volleyball and basketball. The rest of the area is a park and a school orchard. After the Homeland War, we only had about 180 children in the school, and today there are 200. A large number of students live in the very center of Vojnić, near the school, but there are also those who come from far away places and bus transportation is organized for them. The school also has its own school association “Duga”, which regularly performs at county and state meetings, tourism and entrepreneurship fair, which is traditional in Vojnić.
The school newspaper “Paleta” has been published for the eleventh year and has achieved good results at county and state meetings.
We are especially proud of the school orchard, from which we enrich the hot meal with fruits. Thanks to the commitment of children and teachers, so far our school has achieved significant successes at the county and state level in various forms of extracurricular activities.
