Dear members of the educational and student community of European School Radio,

With this announcement we wish to inform you about our intention to postpone the Student Radio Festival for the school year 2021-22.

The reasons that force us to make this decision are the faithful observance of the protection measures for the spread of the coronavirus and the need to be absolutely sure that the actions will be implemented safely, avoiding synchronization.

We are very pleased with your great interest in participating in the most important celebration of European School Radio, with the first estimates to speak for more than 2,000 students and teachers in the cultural event of the radio year taking into account the daily questions from teachers, who are willing to accompany their schools in Corfu. We remind you that the possibility of making school trips was allowed by the Greek Ministry of Education just a few weeks ago and deliberately we had not made a relevant update for its instructions, waiting for clarifications from the Ministry of Education, regarding the meeting of many different schools in a closed space. However, there is no updated information from the ministry in charge for school trips that mentions these school cultural events forcing the Festival Organizing Committee to take the initiative of not implementing the Festival this school year, during which the coronavirus protection measures.

However, we inform you that we are exploring the possibility of holding the Award Ceremony of the Radio and Music Contest “Make it heard 2022” live and up close, in a central place either in Athens or Thessaloniki so that a delegation of students from each team that will be among the winners.

We hope that the next school year will be more fortunate in the issue of schools’ participation in joint cultural activities of communication, cooperation and the promotion of student initiative and creativity.

Yours sincerely

For the Festival Organizing Committee
